Subaru Rally Team Driver Travis Pastrana Breaks Mt. Washington Hillclimb Record by Over 24 Seconds!

Mt. Washington is the largest peak in the Northeastern United States, and since 1904 it has been home to one of America's oldest motorsports event: the Mt. Washington Hillclimb! Mt. Washington is known for it's steep inclines, slippery gravel roads and treacherous mountain drop-offs. Just recently, Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana smashed the Mt. Washington Hillclimb record that was previously set by Subaru Rally Team USA partner David Higgins by over 24 seconds!

To break the record, Pastrana was driving a modified 2017 Subaru WRX STI with a four-cylinder turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine that produces over 600-horsepower. Where normal vehicles struggle to get to the top of Mt. Washington and actually end up earning a bumper sticker to commemorate their journey, Pastrana had no problem taking on the treacherous hills and sliding corners on his way to victory at the 6,288 foot summit of the tallest peak in the Northeast.

This is just another example of how well equipped Subaru vehicles are for taking on any driving conditions, and in Pastrana's own words: "I can't say enough how fun these cars are to drive…" If you're interested in getting behind the wheel of a new Subaru WRX or WRX STI, we welcome you to come join us here at Riley Subaru to view our entire selection of new Subaru models in person and take one out for a test drive today!
