The 2020 Outback is built on the Subaru Global Platform and give the Outback a more sturdy and quiet ride while also enhancing safety with a 70% stiff body structure. While Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which is standard on every model, monitors, alerts, and reacts to changes in traffic. The 2020 Outback arrives with the latest version of EyeSight Driver Assist Technology that now includes Lane Centering with Adaptive Cruise Control. Another new EyeSight feature is available EyeSight Assist Monitor with head-up display. Subaru DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System is another new safety feature of the 2020 Outback.

Under the hood of the 2020 Outback are two new BOXER engines. The standard 2.5L has been revised to be more powerful with 182 horsepower and more efficient with 33 highway mpg. While the second BOXER engine is a 2.4L turbo that generates 260 horsepower and can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Both engines are paired with Subaru's Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission 8-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters.
